2017

March NW TAR's initial feedback to Transport for the North on the TransPennine Tunnel Wider Transport Connectivity Assessment Study.

2016

November The three environmental NGO members of the TransPennine Tunnel Study produced a short paper on spatial & sustainability objectives which they pitched to the project team.
October An objection to the Poynton Relief Road - one of the SEMMMS roads - has been lodged by NW TAR in response to the planning application by Cheshire East Council.
January The submission by the three environmental NGO representatives serving on the DfT/Highways England TransPennine Tunnel strategic study to the National infrastructure Commissions 'Call for Evidence'.

2015

December Here is NW TAR's submission on the Congleton Link Road planning application.
October Environmental NGOs serving on the strategic TransPennine Tunnel Study that is looking at providing a road tunnel between Manchester and Sheffield have made two submissions to the DfT, Highways England and Transport for the North at the end of the 'scoping' phase.
March The DfT have invited NW TAR to participate in their new strategic studies affecting the North of England. We have sent to them an initial joint submission in tandem with CPRE North West Regional Group.

2014

November Lillian Burns was invited to write an article about road building for the Winter edition of 'Countryside Voice', CPRE's national member magazine. This is the edited article that was published:
October Local Transport Today (LTT 657, 3 Oct-17 Oct) have carried a letter from NW TAR Convenor Lillian Burns challenging the limited scope of the DfT's TransPennine Study and its focus on delivering a road scheme. LTT gave the letter the heading: 'Has a Mottram-Tintwistle decision already been made?'
May A second joint submission on the DfT's Trans Pennine Feasibility Study has been made by the NW TAR and CPRE North West Regional Group.
February A joint submission has been made to the DfT by NW TAR and CPRE on the latest Trans Pennine Routes Feasibility Study.

2013

December NW TAR letter to the National Planning Casework Unit asking for the Communities Secretary to 'call in' the SEMMMS A6-Manchester Airport Relief Road and to hold a public inquiry.
December See our letter to the Examining Authority regarding the relevance of the A556 public inquiry to the new Draft National Policy Statement for National Networks and the National Infrastructure Plan.
December The Campaign for Better Transport and NW TAR have jointly written to the Examining Authority for the A556 public inquiry suggesting a 21-day suspension of the inquiry to allow interested parties to respond to changes and new information.
December Continuing their engagement with the A556 Knutsford-Bowdon road public inquiry, NW TAR wrote twice in quick succession to the Examining Authority on the subject of the proximity of the proposed new off-line Highways Agency road to HS2.
December For the third time thIs year NW TAR, along with CfBT, have produced a heavyweight submission on the A6-Manchester Airport Road, this time in response to the planning application.
November The third submission by NW TAR to the Planning Inspectorate for the public inquiry into the Highways Authority's A556 Knutsford-Bowdon scheme is available to download here.
September The second submission by NW TAR to the Planning Inspectorate for the public inquiry into the Highways Agency's A556 Knutsford-Bowdon Scheme.
May NW TAR have written to the Planning Inspectorate appealing for them not to progress the A556 Knutsford-Bowdon road scheme through the National Infrastructure Planning process because it has not been consulted upon in relation to the HS2 Phase Two scheme that would run alongside it.
March A follow-on Freedom of Information request has been sent to the Highways Agency by NW TAR in respect of HS2.

2012

November A background briefing sheet about the South East Manchester Multi Modal Study (SEMMMS) roads
September NW TAR and CfBT have made a final written representation to the Heysham-M6 Link public inquiry.
July The supplementary evidence on traffic flows presented by CfBT under the NW TAR banner as part of the Heysham-M6 Link Inquiry. Formal complaint by NW TAR and CfBT against the National Infrastructure Directorate.
June The second joint CPRE/NW TAR written representation/rebuttal to Lancashire County Council's Heysham to M6 Link Road evidence. .
May Rebuttals by NW TAR and CfBT to Lancashire County Council's evidence for the Heysham to M6 Link Road. Joint written representations have been made by the NW TAR and the Campaign for Better Transport and by NW TAR and the Campaign to Protect Rural England to the Examing Authority for the latest Heysham-M6 Link Road inquiry.

    April The NW TAR and the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) joint letter asking to be formally registered with the Highways Agency and the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) as 'interested parties' for the new planning procedures that apply to the A556 Knutsford to Bowdon road scheme.
    January A report by economic consultants for the NW TAR and the Campaign for Better Transport has been sent to government to try to persuade them that the Private Finance Initiative proposed for the Mersey Gateway Bridge will not work.

    2010
